You're an Overcomer

You are of God, little children, you have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

This verse is talking about overcoming the false prophets and the worst one is the antichrist. He lies to us and tries to keep us in bondage, but we have the God our Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit to help us become overcomers. He (anyone of the three) is greater than the devil who roams around like a roaring lion.

You may have something weighing on your mind. Perhaps something from your past and you got stuck there. Maybe there are questions you want answered? We usually want to know "Why" and we don't always get the answers. This is why I believe Proverbs 3:5 gives us this instruction. Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding. There are many disasters and evil things that happen in the world and we never find out why. We still get past all of it though! God doesn't want you stay stuck in the past. He wants you to overcome it. Leaving you stuck there isn't an option. The first thing you need to do is face it head on. If you are ready to face it God is ready to help you overcome it. Then forget about it! Isaiah 43;18 says, Forget all that - it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.

Addictions can feel like they are impossible to break. Especially if you have more than one then our addictions run in a cycle - trading one for another. Most of us are taught that hate is a bad word and we shouldn't use it. In this case it is when we hate the addiction it becomes something we want to do away with. Makes since right!? If we can break one addiction or be delivered from it we can certainly break or be delivered from another. God doesn't want us to be bound by our addictions. He wants to free us from them. Notice I said, "addictions feel like they are impossible to break." Although it feels that way always remember nothing is impossible with God. The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Corinthians 10:13

Fear is something else we all experience. There is that one fear that seems to paralyze us - stopping us in our tracks. We have a fear of stepping out into the unknown. Fear of trying new things thinking we won't be good enough. Fear of making mistakes and failing miserably, but this actually leads to success. We can learn a lot from our fears. Fear takes us to places where we will succeed in life. The devil knows this and will use fear to keep us complacent. Satan doesn't want us to succeed and will try to hold us back by placing fear right in front of us. The truth is the more we think about our fear the more time it has to get a grip on us. There are times we are fearful of something but have to jump right in. No time to think and we faced fear right in the face and it didn't even phase us. Have you ever been in a situation like that? It is a real eye opener! Be strong and courageous! This is what we are told to do. Do not be afraid or discouraged for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you. Deuteronomy 31: 8

No matter what trials you go through God is always there with you. If you are ready to face something head on He is ready to help you overcome it. We are overcomers and it is very important to remember He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. Stand and fight being reassured of this especially when it comes to the devil. The devil only has as much control as we give him. Stop him in his tracks and keep your eyes focused on Jesus.
