My heart has heard you say, "Come and talk with me." And my heart responds, "Lord, I am coming." Psalm 27:8
A few days ago a friend called in the middle of the night and left a message, "call me back asap." Normally I don't answer the phone in the middle of the night, but I felt the urgency to pick up the phone and check my message. Once I called my friend back she said that our friend had been admitted to the hospital and had a massive heart attack. She mentioned something about we needed a miracle. (I think she said we needed to pray for a miracle). Honestly I can't remember the exact words. I was frantic at first and while running around trying to get ready to leave God stopped me in my tracks. I knew before I did anything else I needed to drop to my knees and pray.
I love the way God uses me as a vessel and hears my prayers when I am praying for a physical healing. He has answered some and at other times I knew these prayers would not be answered in the way I wanted them. Sometimes the answer is no not right now, but they were surely answered once they've reached heaven. The thing is God has a plan and all prayers are answered according to His will.
Don't ever think that God isn't listening. He hears all of our prayers and even though He doesn't always answer in the way we would like our Father knows what is best. Sometimes it takes much longer than we anticipate. Since all prayers are answered according to His will this also includes His timing. Regardless of the answer we can trust Him in knowing everything works for our good. Even when we don't know what to say the Holy Spirit intercedes for us constantly.
We are to pray without ceasing. I don't always pray in this manner, but even now as I think about it I want to share a thought with you. Think about this. God wants to be our best friend and the more we talk to Him the more we get to know Him. He already knows every detail of our lives. What if we spent our days getting to know all the details about God through prayer? Again, just a thought. Seriously though there is always someone or something to pray about. Whenever we pray, God bends down and hears us all!
This is what I was trying to bring to the table at bible study last Tuesday. Our next guest needs no introduction. When David Letterman interviews the celebrities on His show he studies them, he gets to know them before he even interviews them. He finds commonality between them and bases his interview on that.
so what if we did the same thing with our Father with Jesus and the Holy Spirit? Could we find our commonness? Could we get to know them before hand? Could we study and learn about them?
As we pray and learn about them, Their leading is stronger and stronger and we second guess ourselves less and less.
That night you stopped…
