"Oh, that you would bless me indeed, enlarge my territory, that your hand would be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain," 1 Chronicles 4:10
Yesterday I was going through my notes and found the prayer of Jabez so I set it by my computer for today. My plan was to write this prayer today keeping it a short blog. God brought to my attention that I need to do more than just enough. I need to do so much more to become the person God wants me to be. The same applies to all of us. Mediocrity is not an option for us.
Like Jabez we should want to be more and do more for God. All the while drawing closer to God and He will draw closer to us. (James 4-8) We develop this relationship and become closer everyday through prayer. After all, in the end we are longing to hear "well done my good and faithful child."
If your like me I often thank God for meeting my needs, but I want you to know He has so much more in store for us. We have not because we ask not. (James 4-2) God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. (Ephesians 3:20)
I read this book many years ago and I'm so glad I found the prayer I had written out yesterday. I was afraid to read it daily because well to be honest I didn't want the responsibility. Since I was still a "baby" Christian I thought if we did what we were called to do then that would be it and God would call us home. I wasn't even sure of my calling, but I thank God for giving us more chances than we deserve. Now I know by answering our call He can expand them into so much more than we could ever imagine. I know I broke Gods heart that day, but now reaching a new level of maturity I have a new outlook and want to do what pleases Him. Also I will hang this prayer in my work area and speak these words over my life.
Father God, "Oh, that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that you would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain." In Jesus Name I Pray, Amen.
Will you join me in saying this prayer daily? I believe we will see blessings beyond measure. We will see favor in every area of our life. Spiritual growth, strength, transformation, peace, success, prosperity and so much more will be given to us. We will see and experience the things that only God can do.
Do you want your territory enlarged? I know I do. I believe it is important to start right where we are right now. To have our territory enlarged is not only doing what God wants us to do, but to go where God asks us to go. God did not call the qualified but qualifies the called. He will empower us with His powerful hand and work in and through us. This is how we become qualified.
He has His hand of protection on us. When we say the name of Jesus the devil has to flee. Often times we are protected with His unseen blessings and we aren't even aware of it. He is always fighting on our behalf. There is a prayer of protection and it is the reading of Psalm 91.
God will also deliver from the sorrow and painful events from our past so we can continue to walk into the bright future that awaits us.
Yes, it’s the responsibility that gets us. I loved this prayer. Thanks for the reminder. I have been journaling Isaiah 61:1 and I will keep journaling it until it’s in my heart and I understand spiritually. Oh lord show me and teach me your ways!
