Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the heart knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints (Christians) according to the will of God. Romans 8:26-27 (NKJV)
Have you ever been at the point where you didn't know what to pray for or even when you tried there was nothing but silence? I believe many of us have been here at one time or another. Thank God we have the Holy Spirit to help us when we are weak! Sometimes we get stuck here and it is usually because we are focused on what we are unable to do. When we focus on who God is and what He does for us we are able to look beyond our limitations. We can rely on the Holy Spirit to help us.
So, today I am going to write to you as a mother which I am not. I am going to do my best to relay the message I heard this morning. Here goes. When you are holding a baby whether it is yours or not and all you hear are groanings and crying because they don't know how to speak. As a mother you learn to listen and all of a sudden realize you know exactly what the baby needs. There are certain cries for food, a diaper change, rest, and just wanting to be held. I know there are other areas involved with the groaning of a baby and you know what they are. You also know what they need. You learn all about their personality! We all act a certain way when we want something. Right!?
Now think about your own life and when you don't know what to say or how to say it. Your words have no sound, but the Holy Spirit uses unspoken groanings to communicate our needs. In other words He intercedes without using words. Just as a mother knows what is happening regarding the life of a baby; Our Heavenly Father knows what is happening in our lives. He doesn't have to hear us, but can tell what we need by our personality. Just as a mother wants nothing but the best for a baby. God wants nothing but the best for us.
As the Holy Spirit is our intercessor and makes requests on our behalf they will always be aligned with the will of God. The very best for us! Just as a mother tenderly cares for a baby God tenderly takes care of us.
Thank you Holy Spirit for interceding when we can't find the words!!!
AMEN!!!
