Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders. Deuteronomy 33:12 (NIV)
We are the beloved children of God and just like little children run to their parents we should run to our Father. He is always waiting with open arms. I want you take a few minutes and think back to when you were a small child. Now think about how it felt to climb upon your parents lap and just lie there comfortably against their chest. I am sure this is the place where you felt safe and the most loved. I doubt there were any worries that crossed your mind while you were being held.
When we rest between the shoulders of God we feel a love that is beyond all measure. Resting in Him is where we feel the most secure as all our worries seem to fade away. He shields us from all harm and danger becoming our place of safety. As He shields us with His mighty right arm and strong hand we become refreshed deep within our soul. If anything is bothering us we can lay our burdens down at His feet. Then when we climb into His lap resting between His shoulders we feel completely at rest. His love is heartfelt and we become so content in this moment we never want to leave.
When we realize who we are and whose we are the love between us continues to grow. Our relationship grows stronger over time and we feel closer to Him than anyone else because resting in between His shoulders is so much more comforting, loving, and secure than we can find anywhere else. There is no other pace I would rather be.
The Lord says, "Come to me and you will find rest."
