Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24 (NKJV)
We often try to do things in our own strength and it doesn't get us very far, does it? This is because our strength comes from the Lord! God sees us in our weakness which is the very place our strength can be found. John 16:33 tells us Jesus has overcome the world. Our hearts are filled with hope and strength when we fix our eyes on God. His strength encourages us to be bold for Christ.
The Word of the Lord strengthens us. As we read the Word that was written thousands of years ago we should believe the truth that was spoken still applies to us today and always. The Word strengthens us when we are weary, need healing, comfort, protection, and facing any kind of trouble. A well known verse is Philippians 4:13 which says: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Through reading the Word we learn that He is always with us and gives us the spiritual armor of God to face our enemies.
We have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit who empowers us and fills our heart with the love of God. It is this love and power that gives us strength. The Holy Spirit flows within us and helps us to stay strong so we can face anything. The Holy Spirit gives us the strength and power to stand form for Christ in trials and forgiving others. The Holy Spirit is our helper.
Since Jesus has overcome the world, God is always with us, and we have the Holy Spirit there is no greater strength in the world. Yet, we feel defeated when facing our battles. When we put our hope in the Lord and trust that He is the strength we need this encourages us to rest in knowing the battle is already won. Our strength is found when we put our hope in the Lord.
More of you and less of me. (John 3:30)
