I keep telling myself what I tell others. If we we're perfect we wouldn't need Jesus. We will never be perfect here on earth and we all know this to be true. However, many of us have these thoughts that whatever we do it needs to be perfect. Why do we set ourselves up to fail? "Perfection is a set up to failure because it is impossible." LHM
We accomplish something by slowly making progress in everything we do. When we are running after our dreams (or anything else) it is important to set goals. Actually it is important to set small goals that are attainable. Too often we set ourselves up for failure! When we fail it causes us to want to give up. This is the wrong mentality. It is like the glass of water, is it half empty or half full? Sometimes when we fail and we will it is important to look at how far we have come.
As we look at our progress it was derived from taking one small step at a time and then another. Putting one foot in front of the other taking baby steps along the way. The last thing we want to do is run ahead of God because we don't want to miss out on seeing Him in the moment. Sometimes we run right past Him. We would be wise to wait for His instruction and go in the way He teaches to go in His timing. He is always watching and looking out for our best interest.
Being a perfectionist leads to frustration. It causes us to look at the wrong in life rather than the success we have achieved. Progress is proof of where we have been to where we are going. Progress is never giving up, learning to make improvements, finding what works, growing and evolving. Progress is how we constantly move forward reaching new heights and becoming better than before.
