New Wine Being Poured Into New Wineskins

No one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so that both are preserved. Matthew 9:17

Jesus brings a newness that cannot be confined within our former selves. The two just simply do not mix. It is like doing the same thing and expecting different results. That never really worked out for us did it? No. I used to cling to the ways of the world thinking everything was ok. Then I realized that I was focusing on all the wrong things.

Once we come to know Christ we realize that we are sinners in need of a Savior. This is when little by little we start to become a new wineskin. Still getting rid of the old, but relying on God to clean out our hearts making room for a new perspective about life, faith, hope, love, and all the other new things that Jesus wants to pour into us. We must be made new to receive the new wine of Christ. The new wine of Christ is everything good that He pours into us to transform us to be the best version of ourselves. The two go quite nicely together preserving us for a better life.

When God pours the new wine into the new wineskins we will be able to stretch and withhold all that He has given us. There is always room for more and when we continue to get rid of the former things we will constantly be making room for the new.

Father God,

I want to thank you for pouring yourself into us through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. I thank you for the way you have made us new. I thank you for giving us the desire to be more like you. I thank you for the transformation so far and all the newness to come. I thank you for the times when we say "more of you and less of me" by your power you activate these words into our lives.

In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
