But You, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15
We all make mistakes and in learning from our mistakes we can see the power of God's mercy and grace. We might even feel like a disappointment to God, but He is slow to get angry. Through His unfailing love and faithfulness; He forgives us every time. God sees us as being righteous because Jesus died for our sins.
Saul was a man who tried to stop the growth of Christianity at any cost. He persecuted the people and led them off to prison. Not only that He had them murdered. Later on God would forgive him and when God renamed him to become Paul he would then dedicate his life to to spreading the message of salvation.
King David was a man that lied, committed adultery, and murder. A little shepherd boy because of his faith would set an example of this by killing Goliath. Later he would become king and lead God's people. He became a man after God's heart.
Moses killed an Egyptian for beating up a Hebrew slave and tried to cover it up by burying him in the sand. God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and across the Red Sea. Moses was also a mediator between God and the people going up and down Mount Sinai. He was chosen to carry the ten commandments down the mountain.
Peter was a fisherman and back in the day fishermen were known for their bad temper and foul language. Peter was the one who cut off the soldiers ear acting in violence. Peter was a sinful man and knew it. Yet Jesus looked at him and said, "Do not be afraid; from now on I will make you fishers of men." Peter denied Jesus not once but three times. After the resurrection of Jesus Christ they ate breakfast on the shore Jesus said to Peter, "Follow me!" Peter became a bold spokesperson for the apostles. He traveled all over sharing the message, facing persecution, imprisonment, and even death.
Jonah was told to go to Nineveh to tell them that there city would be destroyed if they didn't change their ways and repent. Instead he set out for Tarshish running from the Lord. I am sure you know the story and while he was in the belly of the whale he cried out to the Lord to save him. The Lord answered his prayer and saved him. Jesus asked him again to go to Nineveh. When he did he proved himself to be faithful staying there forty days delivering the same message. Through his faithfulness God chose not to destroy the city for they eventually turned from their ways.
I could keep on going and showing other examples of people who made mistakes. What I want you to know is no matter what mistakes we make or how big they are God will forgive you. As you have noticed He will not only forgive you, but still use you in a great way. God loves you so much and always will. We might not always see Him working in our lives or answering our prayers in the way we want Him to, but He is always there for us. If for some reason you are going through a difficult season don't give up on God. He will never give up on you!!! This is not the end of your story. Greater things are still to come.
Ahhh my heart! There are still greater things. I love that God loves us sooo much, that He works with us to reach the greater things💞💞💞
