God Will Carry You Through

How many times do we cry out to God and let Him know we are desperate for Him? Lately it seems to be so much more than usual. Recently I have just been talking to God as a friend, but mostly as a Father because that is what I need right now. From the conversations I have had with a few of my friends leads me to think maybe we all need a Father right now.

While one person might be fighting depression, loneliness, and isolation another might be feeling frustrated, angry, and misunderstood. Some people might even be at the point of wanting to give up. It feels like we are walking in sand when we are weighed down, doesn't it? Do not try to mask any of these feelings!

Feelings are a part of our life and should never be shoved to the side to deal with later. We need to take the time to face what is right in front of us so we can move past it - not around it. My friends, are you getting this! We can't keep going around what God is trying to take us through! No matter what you are facing today you are not facing it alone. Isn't that the best news ever!?

Looking back we have never walked alone which brings me to this reminder of footprints in the sand. I think this is something we need to remember during some of our lowest times. I also think it is something we should remember during all walks of life because the Lord is always walking with us. I hope you feel His presence today knowing He has already walked before us, He walks beside us, and He walks behind us. Then we must remember during those times when we felt at our worst it was God that carried us through!

Footprints

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it: "Lord, You said that once I decided to follow You, You'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed You most You would leave me."

The Lord replied: "My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
