Gifts From Above

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:17 (NKJV)

One of the most precious gifts from above is the gift of life. It is a privilege to be here another day. We have been given life and we can have it more abundantly.

The faithful love of the Lord never ends; it endures forever. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies are new every morning. He is tenderhearted and compassionate extending His love to us which is beyond all measure. Our Father loved us before we were born and will love for all eternity.

We have the gift of salvation. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life - John 3:16. For by grace you have been saved through faith. We have been redeemed through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

The fruits of the Spirit have been given to us which are: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. God gives gifts that produce wonderous fruits.

We gain wisdom, knowledge, understanding, counsel, fortitude (courage), strength, compassion, and the fear of the Lord. We have also been given specific gifts and talents from God, equipping us to do His will.

Christ also gave gifts to the church: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers.

The list goes on and on! Ultimately everything we have comes from above!

The Father of lights is God who created the sun, moon, and stars. The sun to rule the day and the other lights to rule over the night. These are signs to mark seasons, days, and years which are always changing. Our Father, God who is the light that shines on us continually never changes. His word is truth and will always remain. His promises are secure. God is the gift that keeps on giving!
