I lift my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalms 121:1-2 (ESV)
When we become consumed in our daily lives and many troubles pile up around us the weight of it all sometimes causes us to hang our head low as if we have been defeated. We feel like we can't take anymore then out of nowhere here comes one more thing added to the pile. How are we supposed to deal with all of this and who do we turn to?
Turning to our friends in a time of need helps. We have friends who are good listeners and others will definitely take the time to pray for us. We even have friends who are wise and give us good advice. This is what friends are for, right? Of course.
When you are feeling defeated or maybe just feeling down I think this might help. Imagine the Almighty loving God reaching down and slightly placing His hand under your chin. Then imagine Him softly whispering "keep your chin up kid."
As we lift our eyes to the hills we are now in a position to see where our help comes from. Our help comes from the Lord the Maker of heaven and earth. We know if He can make heaven and earth He can make mountains move, part the waters, and calm the storm.
We all believe this when we read about it in the Bible. He is still the same God and is willing to help us right now. The raging seas that are hitting you wave after wave and making you feel like you are going to drown God can certainly cause those waves to subside.
Lift your eyes from your circumstances and look to the Lord from where your help comes from. He is bigger than all of the problems you are facing.
