I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. Psalm 139:14 (NKJV)
When you read this verse or look in the mirror, do you know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made? Whatever you maybe thinking the truth is you are fearfully and wonderfully made whether you believe it or not. The real question is do you believe the truth or are you believing the lies?
In the KJV dictionary the definition of fearfully is: In a manner to impress admiration (to a person worthy of respect) and astonishment (amazement). It also means full of awe or reverence (a feeling of deep respect). When God created us He wanted us to be in awe of Him. He designed us to admire, respect, and be amazed by Him. Fearfully made yes, I have always believed this.
Now to get to nitty gritty of the way I used to think. Wonderfully made? I believed the lies and spent more time questioning God rather than believing the truth. By the way we should never question God! When I was a teenager I was told that I was stupid and that I would never amount to anything. My grades in school seemed to prove that so I believed it. Since my siblings are older than me I often wondered if I was here by accident. My brother being the closest in age is fourteen years older. I have a sister sixteen years older and had another sister who was eighteen years older. I have nieces and nephews two and four years younger than me. My mom was forty when she gave birth to me and my dad was fifty-one at the time. I was told that they didn't plan to have me, but I was the reason they stayed together. Long story short I thought I was a mistake. Several years ago I was revealed why this was part of God's plan and of course it made perfect sense.
I want to make something clear before moving on. Sometimes we don't feel like we are wonderfully made because we see flaws in the way we look especially as we age. Right? (I won't bore you with the details). Instead, embrace the way you look and believe that God sees you as the most beautiful and wonderfully made of all creation.
You might have your own reasons why you doubt that you wonderfully made. Maybe you have been told you are a mistake, or an accident. Maybe your weren't planned by your parents. The worst thing someone could here are the words I wish you had never been born. My friends sometimes words cut like a knife, but they can bring healing too. Don't believe the lies! Instead, believe in the truth of God!
Let's get down to the truth of the matter. Everything written in the Bible is the truth (yes, even though it was written by man). They were appointed by God to write the words of God! The truth is you are fearfully and wonderfully made. This is a fact because the Bible tells us so. The Bible is God's love letter to you!
Here is something to think about. "Marvelous are Your works." When we look at all of creation everything is so beautiful. Right? Of course! I have never heard of anyone questioning God about the creation of the world. Let that sink in for a moment. Now, ask yourself, why would I question that I am wonderfully made? There is absolutely no reason to and we shouldn't. I love this verse because we know Your works are marvelous and this includes all of your precious children. We are wonderfully made because the truth is we were made by You.
Long before we were born it was Your plan to form us in our mother's womb. This is so comforting if you weren't planned by your parents. You were planned by God! We are all part of God's plan which is so beautiful. When you stop and think about how God designed us it is astonishing. You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb - Psalm139:13. Beginning our lives as an embryo we all looked so much alike. Then as we started to grow our inner parts and outer parts began to develop; with each stage of growth we become unique individuals. God knew all along what certain molecules He would use from our parents DNA to create us including every element resulting in our intricate design. God made each of us to be a unique individual; made in the image of God. Marvelous are Your works!
Therefore, no one is a mistake. God doesn't make mistakes! No one is here by accident. We were made on purpose for a purpose. My friends each and every one of you are part of God's plan. It began with the plan for you to be fearfully and wonderfully made. Let these verses Psalm 139:13-14 sink down into your heart and soul. Sow it into your memory, your mind, the way of thinking, embrace this truth with all of your heart, and praise God for His marvelous works. Allow all of this to soak in until you are saturated by it; believing the truth.
