Don't compare yourself with others. Just look at your own work to see if you have done anything to be proud of (vs.4). You must each accept the responsibilities that are yours Galatians 6:4-5.
We compare ourselves to others in so many ways and this only sets us up to fail. I don't know about the ways you compare yourselves to others, but I have a pretty good idea. Let's start with the way we look such as our hair, makeup, designer clothing, oh ladies we can't forget about those shoes that have to match that purse. It doesn't stop there. What about the jewelry, vehicles, lawns, and houses? Let's not forget about our weight which can often leas to anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and purging. I could go on and on about the athletes, musicians, artists... talents and gifts.
When we compare ourselves to others talk about a let down. We start feeling like we just don't measure up. Before you know it all this negativity has settled deep within. Now we have reached the point of having no or low self-esteem (depression) wondering why even try at all. I know exactly how you feel because I have been there myself. Actually I felt this way this yesterday morning momentarily. Then I was reminded of this devotion I wrote two years ago. ( I am finding that some of my writing I have written in the past can be tweaked for the present). Are you getting what I am trying to tell you? We can either let the negative thoughts of comparison escalate or we can change them after thinking about something momentarily.
I chose these verses because first they tell us what not to do then tells us what we should be doing. (Sometimes I think a clearer instruction can be found in different versions). Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else Galatians:6:4, NLT).
I used to compare my work to others as if it were a contest or something. After noticing others were doing more as in a number of tasks; I never stopped to realize the quality of work verses the quantity. As if that wasn't enough I also compared my writing to others and even though I know it is my calling I wanted to give up. I don't know about you but I can be my own worst enemy.
So, you see this is something that I haven't conquered yet, but would like to overcome comparing myself to others. After realizing how comparing ourselves to others stirs up all this negativity and we have learned what not to do; it is time to apply the instruction of what we should do.
God made us all to be unique individuals. I no longer want to fight against who God created me to be! I accept the responsibilities that are mine. Are you in with me? I certainly hope so. Let's be the best individuals we were created to be.
Amen! Right where I am... doing things for the Lord and not for man! 🥰. Love how the Lord is always guiding us!
