A New Perspective for the New Year

For I am about to do something new. See I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 43:19

When the beginning of each new year approaches many people make a resolution to change something about themselves. There are also those who won't make a resolution because they have already made their minds up that it will result in failure. If you think you will fail then the end result is you will. On the other hand, if you renew your mind and believe in your heart that you will succeed then you will.

Whether we make a resolution or not we all should want to change in some way or another. We don't necessarily need to label it. God wants us to focus our attention on something new. He has already begun! Do you not see it? We need a new perspective to see as God sees. When we look at the wilderness all we see are the obstacles and challenges. It is an unfamiliar place and we resist entering into the unknown. I find myself to be stuck and I don't want to remain here anymore. I am still going around that same mountain I went around last year. It is time for a change so I can continue to move forward. More of God, less of me, and a new perspective! When we only see what is right in front of us it can be daunting. What I hope you will realize is that when we resist moving forward we could miss out on something God already has in store for us. I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the Lord; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope - Jeremiah 29:11, (CEB).

God will make a path through the wilderness and I imagine it to be a beaten down, smooth, and straight path where many people before us have walked through the wilderness. This is the kind of perspective I want to have from now on. God help me! We need to look beyond the obstacles and challenges so we are able to see a path that has already been cleared for us. This is the way God sees it. God will create rivers in the wasteland and the flowing water will be refreshing to the dry parched land. Keep in mind these flowing waters represent the Presence of God. When we choose to seek God and walk in His Presence we know that He will always make a way for us to be refreshed, grow, and flourish starting right now and throughout many years to come. Whatever we are walking through God meets us right where we are and sees us on the other side of it.
