O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the Potter. We are all formed by your hand. Isaiah 64:8
I don't know why we would ever question why God has made us a certain way, but we do. At times we see ourselves as flawed and this is either due to our outer appearance or our attitudes and behavior. What ever the reasons are for seeing ourselves like this is why I need to tell you this. We need to see ourselves as God sees us! God sees us as a new creation, righteous, in Christ, justified, redeemed, equipped, chosen, predestined, blessed, loved, and transformed into the image of Christ.
You have turned things around, as if the Potter were the same as the clay...He doesn't understand what He's doing? - Isaiah 29:16 (HCSB) The Potter is not just another ordinary guy sitting at the wheel. We would be foolish to think so. As a matter of fact the NLT version states: How foolish can you be? He is the Potter, and He is certainly greater than you, the clay!
Why do we think God doesn't understand what He is doing? Maybe you don't think you have ever questioned this, but have you ever at anytime said, "God why did you make me like this?" I know! I didn't realize it at the time either. Now that you have become aware of this you might need to ask for forgiveness. I know I did! This was not easy to admit however, this is exactly why we need to be remolded over and over.
What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying "stop you're doing it all wrong." - Isaiah 45:9 I felt that deep sorrow in my heart! Did you? As I sit here after asking for forgiveness I am going to need to forgive myself. I was thinking was it a simple question that was asking God? Maybe I really was questioning Him. It is hard to admit our wrongs! Yes, I was questioning Him which is a big difference than asking. I even recall using my argumentative voice. "Why am I like this?" ( I get frustrated so easily). When we are in the wrong we tend to make it seem like it's not so bad. Well, I never said, "Stop you're doing it wrong." For goodness sake. I might as well of said that.
No, don't say that. Who are you, a mere human being, to argue with God? Should the thing that was created say to the One who created it, "Why have you made me like this?" - Romans 9:20 Lesson learned!!
The Potter is constantly reshaping us into the person He needs us to become. He is turning our thoughts around aligning them to focus more on Him. He is changing the way we speak (ridding us of foul language and lies) teaching us to speak truth - His Word. After all we are His messengers. He is reshaping our behavior and attitudes. God is pressing into all those rough edges and smoothing them out. He is transforming us to become more like Him. He is softening our hearts and changing our desires.
It might seem like He is pulling you in one direction then pushing you in another! You might even feel like you are being stretched out beyond your capabilities. Then there are those pressure points. It feels like He is really digging in and it is painful. News Flash! You are growing, so you will experience the growing pains that come with it. During this time thank God for creating us to be able to withstand the pressure.
God is so good to us! I love how you put he is always reshaping us. I’m thankful for that. Thankful that he always excepts us back even though he never leaves us. That every time we learn something new in the Word that He is always there with forgiveness in his heart for us. It’s so amazing. It’s horrible that we fight the Potter and not the flesh 😩! I thank Him for you and your diligence in studying the Word!
