The Blessing of Rain

For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams. Isaiah 44:2-4 (NIV)

Without rain everything dries up and withers away. The leaves turn brown - falling of the trees - and the grass dies leaving those patches of ugly spots in our yard. The plants lean over desperate to be revived. Our surrounding creeks, rivers, and streams dry up so much we can cross on dry ground.

When we go periods of time without digging into God's word or our prayer life becomes stagnant we quickly find ourselves in a dry season. We start to wither and the fruit we are to produce has stopped growing and withers.

God blesses the land by sending the rain to refresh and revive the thirsty land. He blesses the places where the water was all dried up filling them and causing them to flow again. The fields and meadows are flourishing with anticipation to produce a harvest.

God's desire for us is to rain down a spiritual blessing on us. Just like the rain blesses the land we receive a blessing. The blessing of God's Spirit refreshes, cleanses, causes growth, quenches our thirst, produces fruitfulness, and fills us until we overflow like streams of flowing water.

He will drench us in love and blessings that trickle down to your offspring. We will all continue to grow like the trees planted by the streams. We will remain fully rooted and we will be well watered flourishing in everything we do.
