Hezekiah became deathly ill, and the prophet Isaiah went to visit him. He gave the king this message: "This is what the Lord says: Set your affairs in order, for you are going to die. You will not recover from this illness." (2 Kings 20:1)
When Hezekiah heard this, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, "Remember, O Lord, how I have always been faithful to you and have served you single-mindedly, always doing what pleases you." Then he broke down and wept bitterly - 2 Kings 20:2. Notice the first thing he did was turn and pray. He didn't ask for favor, to be healed, or for the Lord to prolong his life. He only wanted to say: I have always been a faithful and served you always doing what pleases you. Knowing he was going to die he didn't even question as to why this was happening to him. (At least not out loud).
But before Isaiah had left the middle of the courtyard, this message came to him from the Lord" Go back and tell Hezekiah this is what the Lord, God says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you, and three days from now you will get out of bed and go to the Temple of the Lord. (2 Kings 20:4-5) God always hears our prayers and they are very powerful. God always sees our tear that we cry and knows the reasoning behind them. God being a good listener filled with compassion showed Hezekiah favor. God healed him and not only that added fifteen years to his life.
Then Isaiah said, "Make an ointment from figs." So Hezekiah's servants spread the ointment over the boil, and Hezekiah recovered! - 2 Kings 20:7
When a boil appears it is caused from a bacterial infection and the figs can be boiled in water to make an ointment which causes the boil to come to a head and release the infection. The symptoms are like the flu symptoms such as fever, cold chills, body aches, and fatigue. If you ever get a boil it is highly recommended that if you have a high fever and chills you need to seek a doctor. Hezekiah prayed to God our (doctor) healer. Never doubt the power of prayer!
