All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)
The Scriptures lead us to know the truth and have the power to bring people closer to Him growing in faith. The inspiration of God is the very breath of God flowing through the Scriptures. Ultimately He is leading us and showing the path set before us and the way to walk on it. Scripture is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, instruction, and equips us for every good work.
Doctrine shows us the path. The doctrines of the gospel are the principles or truths taught by Christ and His disciples. (For further reading read Mark chapter 4 teaching by parables). Scripture teaches us the desired results about gospel living. Such living also highlights the attractiveness of the gospel. That they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things. (These teachings can be found in Titus 2:2-10).
Reproof shows us where we got off the path. Reproof is an expression of blame or disapproval. "Criticism of fault". The error or mistake of walking off the path. We are foolish when we walk off the path and God will bring to our attention when and where we strayed from the path.
Correction leads us back onto the path. Correction is correcting the act. Once God has seen that we strayed from the path He corrects us by bringing us back onto the path. All Scripture is profitable for correction. God corrects us in such a gentle way teaching us where we should go and has patience with us making sure we arrive there.
Instruction shows us how to stay on the path. Instruction is the act of teaching or informing the understanding in that of which it was before ignorant information. We should always follow the instruction of the Sovereign God who will teach us to stay on the correct path He showed us in the first place. Instruction and confirmation in the truths of the gospel can be found in 2 Timothy 3:10-17 if you would like to read further.
God has much for us to do and I love the way He doesn't just send us out unprepared. Instead He equips us for every good work. He is the best instructor and we would be wise to follow His ways.
