Doing Good Deeds

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 (ESV)

When it comes to doing good deeds do you ever get tired of it? Maybe you feel as if you are being taken advantage of because it seems like the more you do then more is expected. Sometimes you may feel as if you are not appreciated for the good deeds you are performing. Either way you should not give up and do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

This past weekend we fed the community and only a few people showed up. I already knew three people had other places to be and two others were sick. A family who includes seven people who really need the food didn't show up either. I had the feeling a lot of people would show up and we put so much work into providing for others then to only see a few was a disappointment to say the least. However it all worked out because we were able to bless others by delivering food to them. Was it a test? Not really sure. I do know that we will not stop doing good and God knows if they don't show up we can still make some deliveries. I also know when the time is right God will bring the people who He wants to show up.

When we do good deeds for others it is one of many ways for others to see our light shine. I hope that they see it is the Father working through us instead of us trying to draw attention to ourselves. These good deeds are for others others to spread the news about they have seen. This is not something we should be boasting about.

We are created to do good and be generous with what we have been blessed with. We need to share our abundance with the less fortunate. So that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. - Matthew 6:4 So, let's give not expecting anything from those we give to. I love to be blessed here on earth, but would rather store up my treasure in heaven. God is gracious enough to bless us here and there.

I hope you never grow weary of doing good. God wants our lives to overflow with mercy, love, and compassion. For "whatsoever you do to the least of your brothers and sisters, you do unto me," says the Lord Jesus.

When the Son of Man comes in His glory He will separate the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep on the right. Then He will say, "Come, you who are blessed by my Father." For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me to your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me. After thinking about this I want you to ask yourself this question. Will you be with the sheep on the right side? Or, will you be on the left with the goats?
