Do Not Quench the Spirit

Do not quench the Spirit. 1Thessalonians 5:19

My first thought is I am beginning to understand why God calls us His children. No matter how old we are, we still act like children don't we? When we are given a clear instruction from God at times we often become rebellious and say "No". For instance, we say things like, I don't want to give that up, or let that go right now. This is a way of us bargaining with God and it quenches the Spirit living in us. The Holy Spirit is a fire within us and we don't want to put that fire out, but we do when we are being disobedient.

We need to have a repentant heart so we can walk in the Spirit - not away from it. It is not easy to admit when we are wrong, but it is necessary. Over the years it becomes easier to admit and find relief when we repent as soon as we notice the sin. At that moment we are forgiven! In knowing this it will not only become easier to admit, but we learn to turn away from sin. After all that is what repent means - to turn away. It is not just saying we are sorry only to do the same things intentionally over and over again.

Repentance is the key that unlocks the door to change in our lives! As we walk through the open door we become more aware of the conviction of the Holy Spirit. During the change of events in our life we want to keep that fire burning and never let it go out. I will tell you more about feeding the fire, but first I want to share a prayer with you that will help us to become more like David. David was a man after God's heart and that is what God is looking for.

Prayer: Father God,

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.- Psalm 139:23-24

Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don't let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin.- Psalm 19:13 In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen.

Do not quench the Holy Spirit! Instead keep the fire burning. Let the Holy Spirit know you are awake by starting your day in Prayer. Open your heart to be cleaned out. Fan the flames with the breath of God - the Word of God. Worship as if your life depends on it because it does. Praise His Holy name because He is worthy to be praised. Allow the Holy Spirit to move and work in your life always making it better.

Praise Jesus Praise Jesus Praise Jesus!! I loved this today! Talk about getting inspired with Myers! My heart has been focused on the Holy Spirit for sometime now. And even then life is not easy, but He always endures for us. This prayer basically saying clean me out and keep whipping my flesh on the the winnowing threshold! What an amazing amazing blog. Actually starting from the winnowing to the Holy Spirit 🤯! Keep them coming I need them.

Wow! After watching that video I see how things really do get easier in time. Before they would've used the winnowing fork to shake loose the chaff and separate it. Now they use the fan to blow it which separates it. Just like when we fan the flame. Life becomes so much easier!
