If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (NKJV)
God is faithful and just. This indicates that God's response toward those who confess their sins will be in accordance with His gracious commitment to His people. We are covered by God's mercy and grace. We can't just go on sinning intentionally knowing that we are covered by His mercy and grace. This would indicate that we are taking advantage of God's free gifts to us. God provides the forgiveness that restores the communion with God that has been interrupted by sin.
Sometimes we don't feel like certain sins should be forgiven. I used to think that murderers, rapists, and anyone that abused children were beyond forgiveness. In my eyes those were the worst sins, but now I know that sin is sin; there is no greater sin than the other. We are all God's children and God continuously forgives us when we confess our sins. He continues to give us chance after chance.
Father God,
I thank you for always being quick to forgive us and cleansing us from all unrighteousness as soon as we confess our sins to you. We all fall short and are sinners in need of a Savior. Your faithful and never give up on us giving us chance after chance continuously. I thank you for seeing the desires of our heart and the ways we want to change. We can't do this without your help and I ask that you take our weakness and strengthen us in these areas of our life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Yes, Amen! Sometimes we think because our sin is different or even hidden that we are somehow better then others. But God works with us and on us so we can be free from the weight of all that weighs us down.
Thank you Jesus for your forgiveness and for giving me chance after chance!
