Anchored Love

lesliemyers1968

I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below - indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39

While reading briefly about anchors during the Bronze Age (a prehistoric period 3100 BC - 300 BC) they used rocks for an anchor. They have been modified over the years and are now made out of steel. There are many different sizes and types of anchor, but it is the most important piece of safety equipment to have.

As Christians we only need one anchor and we never have to switch it out for another. Our anchor never changes and it will never rust. God is our anchor who has so much love for us and wants us to be anchored to Him. He is our anchor of hope. We can trust Him because He holds us firmly and secures us in a place of safety throughout any storm.

We who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God's inner sanctuary. (Hebrews 6:18-19)

Notice in verse eighteen it states, as we hold to the hope. God loves us so much He will never let go of us. When we hold onto the hope - the anchor - holds us in a safe position. Sometimes we feel like the chain - the link between us and God - is coming apart and we feel like we are slipping away. This is not God's fault and we should not blame Him for feeling this way. God remains the same in strength and steadiness at all times. We are responsible for how we hold onto Him and when which should be always.

The anchor for our soul, firm and secure enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain. This is the reassurance that Jesus went before us and entered on our behalf. It is through the connection of Christ that we can be moored to God. Secured in a position being held steady while being tied to God. This is how we have hope in what lies ahead.

Nothing can ever separate us from God's love! He is our anchor of hope and He never changes. Today I hope you take the time to become aware of the anchored love that awaits you.
