The Holy Spirit intercedes, guides, teaches, speaks, reveals, encourages, gives us strength, confirms, transforms, and so much more.
1. And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words - Romans 8:26. There are often times we won't know what to pray for, but the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. When the Holy Spirit helps us with our prayer life we can be assured that it will be aligned with God's will. Sometimes I just sit in silence and ask the Holy Spirit to pray for me.
2. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future - John 16:13.
He guides us and tells us about what the truth says in scripture about the future. He will give you visions and reveal the promises God has in store for you.
3. But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative - that is, the Holy Spirit - he will teach you everything and remind you of everything I have told you - John 14:26.
He not only teaches us but also reminds of all that we have learned. We won't remember everything all at once, but when we need to reveal something to someone else He
will speak through us.
4. But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God's deep secrets - 1 Corinthians 2:10.
This includes the depths of God. God works in mysterious ways and sometimes he will reveal the answers to the "why."
5. The church then had peace throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria, and it became stronger as the believers lived in the fear of the Lord. And with the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, it also grew in numbers - Acts 9:31.
The Holy Spirit strengthens us in our faith and the fear of the Lord (to be in awe). The Holy Spirit encourages us with strength and when we rely on these factors it will cause the church to multiply as we encourage others.
6. And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him - the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might (strength), the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord - Isaiah 11:2.
When the Spirit rests upon us we gain knowledge, understanding, and wisdom regarding the Word of God. Once we know the word and are filled with the Holy Spirit we are able to teach with boldness.
7. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all - 2 Corinthians 13-14.
Knowing we serve a triune God we should wake up each morning and invite them in. When we do this we are letting them know we are awake, alert, and waiting with expectation for what lies ahead. We are covered by grace, blessed by the love of God and have new mercies everyday. The Holy Spirit falls fresh on us and reveals so much more than I have mentioned. Learning all that the Holy Spirit does we understand the fellowship He has with us.
